A Brief History of Junior Boys Own:

I was reading an obituary in The Guardian the other day about Ian Loveday (RIP), who was apparently one of a few unsung British names that helped to pioneer early Chicago house and techno sounds in London. Reading this article got me reminiscing on my love for early Chicago house and late the 80's dance music movement in the US that emphatically infilterated the UK. When I got up this morning I went to dig out an old Junior Boys Own collection from the mid-90's to fulfill some 606/707/808/909-layered-over-deep strings/pads/bassline lust. For me, Terry Farley and Pete Heller, developers of the JBO label were, and very much are, two of the UK's finest house music providers. Here are a few obvious cuts (YouTube didn't have any of the more offside stuff) from JBO's back catalogue for your enjoyment...

Fire Island - Fire Island (1992)

X-Press 2 - Muzik X-Press (1993)

Underworld - Rez (1994)

Heller & Farley Project - Ultra Flava (Vox Mix) 1996 :)
