November Chart
So i was sat here last night browsing t'internet aimlessly when I realised it was nearly the end of the month and probably about time for a chart of musical greatness for November. After a quick check on this here blog it also became quite apparent that it may too be time to sort ourselves out and actually post some stuff up regularly for all to read. I have since drawn up a little list of things that I think may be worth waffling on about to everyone and will try to get these up online over the coming week. Although please don't hold it against me if I fail in this task, as I do recall writing something similar on our MySpace regarding a new video blog filmed by ourselves, which has since failed to materialise...
Anyhow, enough of that and on with our chart action.
November Chart
01 Baobinga & ID - Tongue Riddim [Build]
Build is finally up and running with a rather strong release to kick things off (Roska remix on the B). Anything Binga sticks his name on at the mo gets a play from us – big tings. Eagerly awaiting future releases…
Riverside first hit the shops almost a year back and it’s still getting heavy spins all over the shop. Yeah it’s cheese, but the new mixes give it that extra bit of life and enable it to be worked in with a couple of other styles. TC mix is worth checking too.
03 Zinc feat. Nolay - Killa Sound (HeavyFeet Remix) [Bingo Bass]
It’s taken us months to complete, largely due to not wanting to draw from the original too much, but it’s finally done! And working well in the clubs so far! Kind of on a big room tech sorta tip, something a bit different for us.
04 Sub Focus - Could This Be Real [RAM]
I picked up the album on release and (somehow) didn’t really hear anything of note, then was introduced to this on the Annie Mac show, only to promptly forget about it. Then I was reintroduced to it via an A Skillz radio mix and it has since been in heavy rotation!05 Redlight - Be With You [Lobster Boy]
Part of the new EP from the boy Clipz. The whole release is laden with vocalists and the bass is heavy as you like. Be With You is my pick of the four, followed by Feel So Good a close second. Another label just getting off the ground and again future releases are eagerly anticipated.06 Fast Eddie - Yo Yo Get Funky (Nick Thayer Remix) [Giant Pussy]
This has got elements of funky, that Dutch big room stuff, breaks, and some tribal grooves all thrown together. It doesn’t really seem to do a huge amount apart from bounce along in a very satisfying way. One to get peeps moving with when dancefloors go a bit still… 07 Robbie Williams - You Know Me (The Count & Sinden Dub) [Virgin]
I clearly shouldn’t be charting a Robbie Williams track should I? But believe it or not, it works! Even the vocal version ain’t too shabby, but to avoid any embarrassment we’ll stick to the dub. A nice little funky number to play early on is how we’ll be using this one.08 B. Rich - Bump (AC Slater Remix) [Party Like Us]
Apparently every time AC remixes one of Barrett’s tracks it’s where he does his experimenting, which would lead me to believe it’s the first time he’s had a crack at a track this style. Lies! Massive big room beats and bass with white noise, vocal stabs and plenty of swooshiness, very large indeed.09 Solo - Minimood (Round Table Knights Remix) [Sound Pellegrino]
More set opening material here for us. I find a lot of the tribally, new wave of house music coming from producers and labels such as those above to be very samey, but every now and again I find one that stands out and is deserved of a spinning almost every outing by us. This is one of those tracks!
10 Acid Girls - Lightworks (Harvard Bass Remix) [iHeartComix]
Not a huge amount to be said for this apart from there’s a really simple intro, a savage bassline, a bit of an epic breakdown, and more savage bass. It’s all about the savage bass, it’s destroyed every club we’ve played it in!
